The data of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics revealed the development of remittances volume from Egyptians working abroad in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), These remittances increased in total to reach $20.9 billion during the fiscal year 2020/2021, while they were about $18.8 billion during the fiscal year 2019/2020, with an increase of about 11.1%.
Statistics Agency data showed the list of countries with the highest records of Egyptian remittances during that period.
Saudi Arabia came at the forefront of the ranking, with the value of the Egyptians’ remittances amounting to about $11.2 billion, during the fiscal year 2020/2021, followed by Kuwait with a value of $4.4 billion, and then the United Arab Emirates ( UAE ) with a value of $3.4 billion.
The Egyptians working in Qatar funneled 1.5 billion dollars to the homeland, then the Sultanate of Oman with $162 million dollars, and finally Bahrain with $104.1 million.
It is worth noting that the number of Egyptians in the GCC countries reached 4.7 million people by the end of 2020.
