Sri Lanka Gifts Books to NAC Library

Sri Lanka Embassy in Cairo handed over the first set of books to the Capital Library of the New Administrative Capital (NAC). The event was attended by Sri Lanka’s Ambassador M.K. Pathmanaathan and NAC Director of Arts and Culture City Major General Mohamed El-Saadany.

The gifting of books representing Sri Lanka’s culture, history, biopersity, architecture, etc. by the Government of Sri Lanka to the NAC’s library was made on the occasion of the 74th Anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka and in view of promoting cultural relations between Sri Lanka and Egypt.

The Director of the Arts and Culture City and Dr. Zain Abel-Hady, the Head of the Library briefed the ambassador on the concept of the Art and Culture City, which consists of an opera house, a museum and the library.

Further, it was discussed by both sides the importance of promoting cooperation in the fields of culture and arts between Sri Lanka and Egypt, which would pave the way for fostering stronger people-to-people relations between the two counties.

Major General Mohamed El-Saadany, Director of the City, also expressed their keenness to explore avenues for cooperation with the institutions in the field of Culture and Arts of Sri Lanka.
