Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Khaled El Anany launched Friday the “Spend Winter in Egypt” initiative in Aswan. He was accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, the Minister of Religious Endowment, and Aswan Governor Ashraf Ateya.

Al Anany headed to Aswan and inspected the latest projects in the city such as the local market, Nile Plaza (Dorret El Nil Plaza), and Al Mahata square.

He also visited a number of bazaars and listened to their owners’ problems and challenges they face such as the new closing dates.

He also referred to decreasing the fees of releasing licenses of bazaars by 50 percent.

Furthermore, the minister pionted out to the initiative and its importance for backing tourism and supporting their business.

The minister continued that this initiative is part of the government’s plan to support the tourism sector and the workers of small and medium-sized enterprises which were negatively affected by the COVID-19 crisis, and the weak tourism flow to Egypt.

A number of measures were taken by the ministry in light of the initiative such as offering discounts on domestic flight tickets to Luxor, Taba, Hurghada, and Marsa Alam.

Flights from Cairo and Alexandria to Luxor, including tax, will cost EGP 1,500 and to Aswan EGP 1,800, while flights from Cairo or Alexandria to Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, and Taba will cost EGP 1,800 and to Marsa Alam EGP 2,000.

The measures also including offering discounts on the prices of hotels and the tickets of the tourist sites in Qena, Aswan, and Luxor.

In the same context, Aateya highlighted that the projects of developing the city included creating vast green areas, planting trees, and enhancing the architectural identity of the city.

Other projects targeted improving the quality of the roads, gates, and the city’s infrastructure.
