Dozens of people have come out to protest in the Spanish capital, Madrid, against the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), where the leaders of the alliance convened in a decisive summit.

The protesters chanted slogans like “Away from NATO”, Keep Spain Far from Military Bases", "We Will Not Pay for This War (in Ukraine)."

At the Madrid summit, NATO leaders agreed on a new strategic concept for the alliance until 2030.

One of the central points of this concept was the reference to Russia as a "direct threat to the security of the Alliance".

However, US President Joe Biden announced a huge increase in the number of US forces in the European continent, after the deterioration of the security situation resulting from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Biden said that Washington decided to establish the permanent headquarters of the US Fifth Army in Poland, deploy 3,500 soldiers in Romania, and strengthen its military presence in the Baltic states.
