Spain humiliated its guest Germany 6-0 Tuesday thanks to a brilliant hat-trick from Ferran Torres, booking their place in next year's UEFA Nations League final playoffs having finished top of Group A4.

Morata (17'), Ferrán Torres (33', 55', 71'), Rodri (38'), Oyarzabal (89') scored the goals at Estadio La Cartuja de Sevilla – Seville.

"It's probably not the most bitter defeat of my career, but surely one of the biggest," midfielder Toni Kroos said to the German television station ARD after the game. "It hurt. We did not get any grip on them. Spain showed us how to attack."

"We walked all over them in every sense," said Spain midfielder Rodri. "We scored six but it could have been far more. We are still a group with little experience but this will give us a lot of confidence."

This is the second biggest defeat in Germany’s history and their joint-worst one in a competitive fixture.

Germany have not had such a heavy loss since losing to Austria by the same scoreline in a friendly in 1931.

After their stunning victory, Spain joined France and Belgium in the finals and they will be joined by either Netherlands or Italy who are scheduled to play Wednesday.

Spain raised its score to 11 points, surpassing Germany who has 9 points and only needed a draw to progress to the final phase.
