President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the bodies concerned on Wednesday to supply the state-of-the-art modern equipment and machines to the mega rural development project declared earlier this week.

"Sisi’s directives came during his meeting with Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Amir Sayed Ahmed and head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ehab El-Far, among others," Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

The meeting reviewed the construction and engineering conditions of a number of projects carried out by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority nationwide, particularly the rural development project.

The meeting also touched on the progress of some national construction projects and the provision of all required engineering machinery to launch the first phase of upgrading about 1,500 villages.

Sisi also directed the bodies to continue developing the national networks of roads and corridors as per the scheduled timetables to solve any traffic jam problems.

The rural development project, which covers about 1,500 villages as Phase one, seeks to upgrade infrastructure in villages, including water, sewage, power, natural gas, and road services.

It also includes lining irrigation canals for the effective use of water and improving healthcare, education, and social protection services.

The project aims to achieve comprehensive development in all Egyptian villages via improving infrastructure and services.
