Sisi Praises Level of Coordination with Jordan

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi lauded on Monday the level of coordination between Egypt and Jordan on issues of common interest, asserting the two countries’ keenness to enhance the joint Arab action to confront the several challenges facing the Arab world.

"President Sisi made the remarks during his meeting on Monday with King Abdullah II at Basman Palace in Amman," Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

President Sisi and King Abdullah held bilateral talks before another expanded session of talks between delegations from the two countries.

Sisi commended Cairo-Amman ties, noting that the two countries share the same history and destiny.

He added that Egypt is looking forward to fostering its relations with Jordan in all fields.

Meanwhile, King Abdullah II hailed Egypt-Jordan relations as distinguished and special, lauding Sisi’s role in enhancing the joint Arab action in facing the current crises and challenges in the region.

The Jordanian king described Sisi’s role as a model to follow for preserving stability, as well as for advancing development, economic and social conditions in the Arab world.

King Abdullah asserted his country’s keenness to bolster its relations with Egypt at all levels in a way that serves the joint interests of the two countries and their peoples.

He also expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s stances in support of Jordan in various files, in addition to the contributions made by Egyptian nationals to achieving development in several sectors in Jordan.

The talks touched on means of cementing bilateral relations in all areas of trade, development, and investment cooperation, as well as on security cooperation and information exchange, the spokesman said.

The two leaders also reviewed a number of regional and international issues of common interest, with both of them reaching an agreement on strengthening their endeavors to mobilize the international community’s efforts for reaching political settlements of the crises facing some countries of the region.

They also agreed on working to undermine the threat of terrorism and extremism in a way that restores security and stability to terrorism-hit countries and preserves the territorial integrity of those countries.

The two leaders exchanged viewpoints on the efforts exerted by Egypt and Jordan to develop cooperation with Iraq.

As for efforts to reactivate the peace process and the negotiating track of the Palestinian cause, President Sisi emphasized the continuity of Egypt’s tireless endeavors towards the cause.

Earlier in the day, President Sisi arrived in Amman on an official visit to Jordan at the invitation of King Abdullah II.
