Sisi Phones Tebboune to Check on his Health Condition

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi made a phone call Thursday with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of Algeria to check on his health condition.

“The Egyptian president congratulated his brother, the Algerian President, on his recovery from the novel coronavirus, wishing him sound health and wellness, and for Algeria and its brotherly people all good, peace and prosperity,” said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

Rady added that Sisi and Tebboune also tackled ways to strengthen the frameworks of bilateral cooperation to combat the spread of the Covid-19 and health prevention measures through the exchange of experiences between the relevant agencies.

On the level of regional issues, the two leaders also discussed a number of regional files, especially the Libyan crisis.

“The President reviewed the ongoing efforts made by Egypt within the framework of the political track, as it was agreed to intensify joint coordination during the coming period between the two countries in order to restore security and stability to Libya,” the spokesman noted.

On his side; Tebboune affirmed Algeria's pride in the close ties and relations that bind it with Egypt at the official and popular levels, appreciating Egypt's balanced and wise interaction to deal with various regional issues based on its pivotal political weight at the regional and international levels.

Moreover, Sisi stressed the distinction of bilateral fraternal relations between Egypt and Algeria, and Cairo’s aspiration to advance the frameworks of bilateral cooperation at various levels, especially with regard to strengthening communication channels at the economic level, maximizing the volume of trade exchange and increasing inter-investment.
