President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the government on Tuesday to immediately execute the national project for developing a railway network by adding new lines of high-speed electric trains and linking them with the existing railroad network.

"Sisi's directives came during his meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir and Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization Abdel Moneim El Terras," Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.

During the meeting, Wazir briefed the president on the blueprint for establishing the new network of high-speed electric trains and connecting it with the existing network of the railroad.

The electric train project includes three lines with a total of 1,795 kilometers. The first line stretches from Suez governorate’s Ain Sokhna area to the New Alamein city, passing through Marsa Matrouh governorate.

The second line extends from Giza's 6th of October City to Aswan governorate, while the third track is from the Red Sea resort city of Hurghada to Luxor governorate.
