President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Sunday with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and discussed the national strategy for the electric vehicle industry localization, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

Other officials took part in the meeting such as Assistant to the President for National and Strategic Projects Eng. Sherif Ismail, Minister of Public Business Sector Mr. Hisham Tawfik, Minister of Trade and Industry Ms. Nevine Gamea, Minister of State for Military Production Eng. Mohamed Ahmed Morsy, and Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, AOI, Mr. Abdel-Moneim Al Tarras.

"The national strategy to localize the electric vehicle industry and automotive feeding industries was presented during the meeting," said Rady.

Sisi called for achieving the main objectives of the strategy, especially the localization of industry, stressing the importance of taking a further step beyond the assembly of cars.

"The state should start manufacturing cars with increasing percentages of local components within the framework of its clean energy strategy," Sisi asserted during the meeting.

They also discussed efforts to localize the automotive and electric vehicle industries in Egypt.

"These efforts would gradually encourage using hybrid vehicles in order to keep pace with the automotive industry’s growth and environmental protection efforts," the spokesman added.

Thus, this approach would also contribute to strengthening the state's efforts to expand strategic projects of social, economic, and environmental dimensions to lift burdens from the citizens’ shoulders.
