Sisi Meets President of German Bundestag in Berlin

President of the German Bundestag Wolfgang Schäuble received on Monday Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, who is currently visiting Berlin.

El Sisi received a delegation of the Federation of German Security and Defense Industries, at his residence in Berlin, in the presence of Minister of Military Production Dr. Mohamed El Assar, and Abdel Moneim Al-Tarras, Chairman of the Arab Industrialization Authority.

The Egyptian President left for German capital Berlin on Sunday to take part in the G20 Compact with Africa (CwA) High-level conference scheduled for November 19-20, according to presidency spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi.

“The CwA initiative aims at supporting economic collaboration between Africa and the G20 countries through joint projects that contribute to accelerating the growth of the continent,” Radi stated.

This initiative was launched by the Federal Republic of Germany in 2017 during its presidency of the G20 to promote development in African countries and attract more investments.

Moreover, Radi noted that president Sisi will hold a series of bilateral meetings with several German senior officials including; Angela Merkel, to discuss ways to bolster bilateral relations between both countries, as well as exchanging views regarding the latest regional and international issues of common interest.

In addition, Egypt’s head of state will hold meetings with a galaxy of German businessmen, and heads of major German industrial firms, within the framework of Egypt’s efforts to encourage investment and promote comprehensive development efforts.

Noteworthy, the CwA sparked great interest, as twelve African countries have joined the initiative, including, Egypt, Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, Togo, and Tunisia.
