Sisi, Macron Discuss Latest Developments in Sudan, Libya over Phone

On Monday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron reviewed the ongoing preparations for the international conference on Libya, scheduled to be hosted by France on November 12, according to the official spokesman of the Egyptian presidency, Bassam Rady.

During a phone call, Macron expressed his keenness to enhance consultations and share viewpoints with the Egyptian President on the Libyan issue, especially in light of the great efforts being exerted by Sisi towards settling the Libyan crisis.

He stressed that Egypt has a pivotal role in establishing security and stability in Libya, stressing the keenness of France to continue intensive cooperation and coordination between the two countries in this important file.

 

In turn, President Sisi reiterated Egypt's supportive position on the Libyan issue, vowing to continue efforts to settle the Libyan issue militarily, politically, and economically.

They stressed the need to exit all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya, and to undermine illegal foreign interventions that contribute to fueling the crisis.

In addition, the talks touched upon discussing ways aim to enhance the joint bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries in many fields, especially the economic and military.

 

They also exchanged viewpoints on regional and international issues of common interest, especially the situation in Sudan, where they agreed on the importance of dealing with the current challenges in Sudan in a way that achieves stability and security for the Sudanese people, and preserves the democratic path of the current political process.
