Sisi, Jordan PM Discuss Boosting Economic Ties

On Thursday, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Jordanian Prime Minister (PM) Bisher Al-Khasawneh, according to Presidency spokesman Bassam Rady.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister (PM) Moustafa Madbouly and Chief of General Intelligence Services (GIS) Abbas Kamel.

At the outset of the meeting, President Sisi extended his gratitude and appreciation to Jordan's King Abdullah II, praising the warm welcome and hospitality he received during his latest visit to Amman, in light of the strong historical and fraternal relations enjoyed by the two countries at both official and popular levels.

Moreover, he stressed Egypt's aspiration to continue the existing coordination between the two countries at various levels, whether bilaterally or within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism with Iraq, especially in light of the growing challenges facing the region.

On his part, the Jordanian PM expressed his country's keenness to coordinate and consult intensively with Egypt on various issues, in light of Egypt's pivotal role in the region.

In addition, the meeting tackled ways to boost cooperation between Cairo and Amman, especially in energy, counter-terrorism fields, as well as enhancing economic ties.

They also exchange views on the latest regional developments and have agreed to continue mutual coordination and concerted joint efforts, with the aim of reaching a comprehensive political settlement to various disputes and issues in the region.
