President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Friday inspected the pace of work at development projects in Greater Cairo.

"The president started his tour with visiting a project to develop the districts of Old Cairo and El Sayeda Aesha, as well as the Hadarat Axis, according to Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.

"President Sisi checked on the workflow and the implementation rates of the network of roads and bridges at Cairo's districts of Nasr City and Heliopolis," the spokesman added.

"He also toured the network of bridges that were established to link the Hadarat Axis area with the main roads in Cairo," the spokesman noted.

The president examined the ongoing development works in the vicinity of El Sayeda Aesha following the removal of shanty houses that obliterated the landmarks of this historical district, whose residents were relocated to fully-serviced new cities that were earmarked for slum dwellers, the spokesman noted.

All workshops and tanneries in this district were moved, as part of the State's blueprint for reviving the Old Cairo, which comprises the Cairo Citadel, El Fustat, Mamluk-era aqueduct "Magra el-Oyoun", the Religious Complex and a number of ancient mosques.

The president directed officials and supervisors to abide by world-class standards in executing those development projects and adhere to their timetables.
