Sisi: Egypt Must Master Collecting, Manufacturing Plasma Derivatives

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Sunday, with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, and Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Presidential Adviser for Prevention Affairs. The attendees discussed developments of collecting and manufacturing plasma derivatives national project.

The meeting was attended also by Major General Doctor Bahaa El Din Zidan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Single Purchase Authority, and Major General Doctor Mostafa Abu Hatab, Director of the International Medical Center, and Major General Doctor Magdy Amin, Director of the Armed Forces Medical Services Department.

“The meeting dealt with the developments of the national project to collect and manufacture plasma derivatives; follow up the general situation of the spread of the novel coronavirus, in addition to a number of national projects in the health sector,” said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

They also reviewed the steps and contacts made by the concerned authorities regarding the plasma collection and manufacturing project in partnership with the long-standing foreign expertise in this field, including the results of studies on establishing blood collection centers and their locations nationwide.

“The president called that the establishment of the project should be in accordance with the highest international standards so that Egypt will enjoy the potential in this vital field that has a direct impact on the health and safety of citizens,” Rady added.Sisi Calls For Completing Plasma Derivatives Self-Sufficiency Project

Sisi Calls for Ensuring Citizens' Safety 

On her side, Minister Zayed briefed Sisi about the latest developments in the epidemiological situation of the coronavirus, and the control efforts by the state, including conducting the third phase of clinical trials for the vaccine.

She also told the president about the quarantine procedures and medical examination at ports and airports in  tourist governorates, in addition to the planned precautionary measures that should be taken during the events that Egypt will witness over the coming period, most notably the parliamentary elections and the World Handball Cup.

In this regard, Sisi urged the medical sector to prepare for any possible second wave of the pandemic, especially with the approaching new school year, stressing on the solidarity of all the responsible basic elements including ministries, educational departments and educational facilities for the safety of students and those in charge of the system Educational.

The spokesperson noted that the Minister of Health also discussed the developments of the executive position to implement the comprehensive health insurance system in the governorates of the first phase. The first phase was launched earlier from Port Said.

Moreover, Sisi asked to accelerate the necessary steps to include the governorates of the first stage into the comprehensive health insurance system.

“The meeting also discussed the results of implementing various presidential initiatives within the framework of the state’s efforts to improve public health, under the umbrella of "100 million health", and what has been achieved of its goals, especially with regard to treating the Hepatitis C,” Rady stressed.

President Sisi called for providing necessary financial resources to expand the efforts of various presidential initiatives for public health, as they have a direct impact on the health and safety of citizens of all age groups.
