Sisi,Top State Officials Discuss Counter-Terrorism, GERD Files

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, in the presence of Defence Minister Mohamed Zaki, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Irrigation Minister Dr. Mohamed Abdul Atty, as well as  Egyptian General Intelligence Service Chief Major General Abbas Kamel, according to presidential spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi.

The meeting reviewed a number of key issues regarding updates of the security situation as well as counter-terrorism efforts, within the framework of protecting and securing the state’s borders.

They also discussed a number of important regional and international files, in light of the challenges threatening regional security, and also ways to face these challenges to secure Egypt’s national security.

Moreover, the meeting discussed the developments of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) negotiations, ahead of the next round of talks, set to take place this current month in Addis Ababa.

It is worth mentioning, El Sisi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin agreed on intensifying joint efforts to settle the Libyan crisis and combating armed militias and terror groups as well as putting an end to the illegal foreign interference in the Libyan matter.

Over a phone call on Friday, the Egyptian President hailed the major development projects implemented in Egypt in cooperation with Russia, like El Dabaa Nuclear Project and the Russian industrial zone at the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
