Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled el Anany said on Saturday the great sports events, hosted by the Tourism and Antiquities Ministry at the archaeological sites, showcase Egypt's amazing attractions.

Anany was speaking during the final of the CIB Egyptian Squash Open Men's and Women's, held from October 10 to 17, in the presence of Sports and Youth Minister Ashraf Sobhy and Minister of State for Emigration Nabila Makram at the Pyramids Plateau.

The Squash Open is the first sports event held at an archaeological site since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak and resumption of tourism movement to Egypt on July 1, the minister noted.

The tournament is considered one of the eight biggest platinum events in the world, bringing together the best 96 men and women squash players from 19 different countries, with total prize money of $540,000 for both Men and Women.

This is the largest sum of prizes for squash tournaments this season since the emergence of the Covid-19 outbreak.
