Shoukry, South African Counterpart Stress Importance of Peaceful Solutions to the Renaissance Dam Crisis

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry expressed appreciation, on Wednesday, for the consultations that took place with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Africa, as these consultations were culminated in the meetings of the joint committee between the two countries .

He stressed that the talks session touched on a number of files of common interest.

Shoukry affirmed Egypt's keenness and commitment to work under the umbrella of the African Union.

The foreign Minister also indicated that Egypt always stresses its interest, readiness, and affirmation of its desire to reach a binding legal agreement in accordance with the rules of international law and through negotiations and a peaceful solution that meet the interests of all sides and achieve the peopls' desire for development and a decent life, while taking into account the preservation of  Egypt's and Sudan’s water security as Cairo is completely depends on the Nile in its water resources.

He pointed out to the great opportunities for bilateral and tripartite cooperation between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia to achieve security and stability through peaceful means, negotiations and working in a spirit of cooperation.

On her part, The Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Africa pointed out to the importance of continuing negotiations to reach a solution and settlement on the Renaissance Dam file
