Shoukry Receives South African Int'l Coop Minister

On Wednesday, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa Naledi Pandor, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Official Spokesman Ahmed Hafez.

In the framework of the Joint Committee between Egypt and South Africa, the two ministers held political consultations between them.

The discussions dealt with regional and international developments and their impact on the security and stability of the African continent. The talks will be followed by the conclusion of the meetings of the joint committee between the two countries, followed by a joint press conference.

Shoukry met, on Monday, with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, and Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, during his participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos, according to what was published by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Hafez on Twitter.

Shoukry headed, on Sunday, evening to the Swiss city of Davos, to participate in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum 2022.

Ahmed Hafez, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that the Minister of Foreign Affairs is scheduled to participate in the event which will be held within the framework of the forum under the title “The Road to the 27th Session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change: Partnerships between the public and private sectors in the field of climate action in the Middle East and North Africa.”

Hafez also added, in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that Shoukry is also scheduled to meet a number of senior officials from various countries and parties participating in the forum on the sidelines of its activities, in order to consult on the ongoing work to prepare for the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties, which Egypt will host next November.

Shoukry will also discuss ways of cooperation to enhance international climate action at various levels, especially with regard to strengthening climate change adaptation measures and mitigating its negative repercussions, as well as providing climate finance and implementing climate pledges.
