Shoukry Meets President of IFAD

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Thursday Afro Latino, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), at the Fund's headquarters in Rome.

 Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Shoukry congratulated  Latino on his recent assumption of the position of President of the Fund, as he affirmed Egypt's commitment to continuing cooperation with the Fund, praising the effort made by the Fund to mobilize commitments for the NWFE program launched by the Egyptian government during the COP27 climate conference. 

Shoukry also welcomed the launch of the STAR project for sustainable transformation of agricultural adaptation in Upper Egypt on the sidelines of the COP27 climate conference, in which the IMF delegation participated.

On the other hand, the Foreign Minister affirmed Egypt's aspiration to enhance the fund's financing activity to support agricultural and rural development projects, especially with the Decent Life initiative, for which the government devotes large resources to ensure that it is in line with the government's priority to promote and finance agricultural investments in Egypt. 

The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that the president of the fund praised Egypt's hosting of the climate conference in Sharm el-Sheikh and its efforts for the success of the conference, stressing the continuation of cooperation with Egypt, which is the major country in the Near East and North Africa that cooperates with the fund
