On Tuesday, Egyptian Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, held talks with his Libyan counterpart Najla El Mangoush on the sidelines of their participation in the ministerial-level extraordinary consultative meeting of the Arab League Council, which is held in Qatar.

During the talks, the two ministers discussed the latest developments in the Libyan arena and stressed the importance of advancing the political process and paving the way for the holding of the country's upcoming elections, scheduled for December 2021

On his part, Shoukry invited his Libyan counterpart to visit Egypt in the coming days, to continue consultations regarding all regional files.

The minister also reiterated Egypt’s constant keenness to provide all support to Libya in its endeavors to start a new stage of stability away from any foreign interference.

Notably, Egypt’s foreign minister said on Monday that there was still reservation regarding Turkey’s policies, whether on a bilateral level or regional level.

“We are looking forward to relations with Turkey on the basis of mutual respect,” he stated in an interview with Al Jazeera News Channel, adding that currently, Egypt will continue to evaluate their relationship, especially after the exploratory meetings between the two countries.

Shoukry stated the existence of foreign fighting forces including Turkish forces should not continue as there is no justification for their presence.

“Egypt demands the immediate exit of all mercenaries and foreign fighters who threaten the Egyptian national security from Libya,” he told Al Jazeera, adding that Egypt was keen to cooperate with the international community.
