Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, currently visiting Beijing, had talks on Monday with China’s Vice President Wang Qishan, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

At the beginning of the meeting, Shoukry commended the strong relations with China, citing four visits by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to China at an invitation from the Chinese president, he added.

The top diplomat highlighted the importance of the Chinese investments in Egypt, asserting any kind of obstacles facing the Chinese investors in Egypt will be eliminated.

Qishan, for his part, expressed his happiness for Sisi's success in second presidential term, stressing China's support to Egypt in achieving development.

Strong relations, joint interests and closure of stances represented the main bases of Egyptian-Sino strategic partnership, Qishan underscored.

During the meeting, Wang noted that the two countries cooperate in various domains under the “Road and Belt” initiative.

Abu Zeid pointed out that the talks also centered on bilateral cooperation in countering terrorism as well as the latest developments in negotiations of the Ethiopian dam.
