“Empowerment Stage Leader”...Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Mourns UAE President

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, paid a heartfelt tribute to Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan who died at 73.

“The Emirates lost its righteous son, the leader of the ‘empowerment stage’ and the trustee of its blessed journey," Sheikh Mohammed wrote in a tweet. "His stances, achievements, wisdom, giving and initiatives in every corner of the country."

“May God have mercy on you with his vast mercy and enter you into his paradise," the Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces prayed.

WAM News Agency reported on Friday the death news, adding that the UAE will observe a forty-day state mourning with the flag flown at half-mast starting today, and suspend work at all ministries, departments, and federal, local and private entities for three days.

Khalifa, who was born in 1948, came to power in 2004 in Abu Dhabi and became the head of state. He is expected to be succeeded as ruler of Abu Dhabi by his half-brother Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan.
