Egypt's Senate Speaker Abdel Wahab Abdel Razik urged on Sunday Egyptian citizens and voters to exercise their political rights and take part in the parliamentary elections, kicked off yesterday.

In press statements, Abdel Razik said, "We all have to prove to the whole world that we are keen on this constitutional entitlement. We hope more citizens to vote during the upcoming elections days."

He added that the Egyptians' flocking to cast their votes on the 1st day of parliamentary elections, despite the current circumstances due to Coronanavirus pandemic, is a strong message in the face of the evil powers.

The Senate speaker also affirmed that the completion of the two legislative chambers' formation would represent a step forward on the path towards growth and prosperity for the Egyptian people, calling on them to carefully select their MPs.

In the same context, Abdel Razek hailed 'successful' parliamentary elections, and the efforts made by the Ministry of Health and all concerned bodies in achieving the well-organization of the electoral process, abiding by all preventive and precautionary measures, especially in light of the Coronavirus.

It is worth mentioning that, Egyptians resumed voting on Sunday for the second and last day in the first phase of parliamentary elections across 14 governorates.

The electoral process started at 9:00 am, amid tight precautionary measures over coronavirus spread.

The first day of elections witnessed a medium turnout from citizens, who were keen to cast their ballots with the utmost freedom.

The National Elections Authority has formed an operation room and announced a hotline number “19826” for receiving voters’ complaints throughout the two-day parliamentary elections.
