SEE Views History Of Zamalek Versus Moroccan Clubs

Ahead of the confrontation between Zamalek and Morocco’s RS Berkane in the Confederation Cup final, SEE highlights the Egyptian giant's history against Moroccan Teams.

It will be the third time for Zamalek to face a Moroccan team during the same year in this tournament. Overall, the White Knights met Moroccan's clubs in 17 previous CAF games.

It is clear that the Whites have the upper hand as they won ten of these matches, drew five, and just two overthrows. During these matches, the Egyptian club scored 26 goals, while they conceded only 12 goals from their Moroccan opponents.

List of Moroccan’s Clubs that Zamalek met in CAF games

AS Far Rabat was the first Moroccan’s Club that Zamalek faced at the semi-final stage of the 1985 African Champions League. Each side won 1-0 at home, with the Moroccans prevailing 4-3 on penalties.

On their way to the 1996 Champions League, Zamalek overcame Morocco’s COD Meknes in the quarter-final. The Egyptian side knocked out the Moroccan side with 4-2 on aggregate.

Also in 2002, Zamalek grabbed another CAF Champions League title through a Moroccan opponent.

They overcame giants Raja in 2002 final after the whites managed to end the first leg in Casablanca with a goalless draw.

The White knights claimed a 1-0 victory in Cairo achieving their fifth title.

Zamalek’s last CAF title came after defeating Wydad Athletic 3-1 in Cairo in the 2003 CAF Super Cup.

In 2012, Zamalek beat MAS Fez with 4-0 on aggregate to reach the group stage, while in the 2015 confederation cup 1/8th round, the whites crushed FUS Rabat with an away 3-2 victory, after holding a goalless draw in the first leg.

The White Knights qualified to the final of the 2016 Champions League, after beating Morocco's Wydad with 6-5 on aggregate in the semifinal.

It worth mentioning that Zamalek will face RS Berkane in Morocco tomorrow at 12:00 am CLT, while the second leg will be at Burj Al Arab Stadium on the 26th of May.
