A rocket fired on Friday at the personnel housing of the UAE energy company Dana Gas in Sulaymaniyah, northern Iraq, landed in the company's Khor Mor gas field, according to two security sources.

According to Sulaymaniyah's counter-terrorism service, the strike came after an incident on Wednesday in which a rocket entered the gas field but did not cause any damage. The strike has not been attributed to any one party.

UAE's Dana Gas firm of the United Arab Emirates is developing the Khor Mor gas field in the southwest of Sulaimaniyah province, which provides natural gas for about 80% of the region's power plants.

In recent weeks, there have been a number of unreported attacks on the electricity infrastructure in Iraqi Kurdistan.

In the Khabat neighbourhood of Erbil, several Katyusha rockets detonated in April not far from an oil refinery. Kurdish authorities attributed the rocket fire to forces supported by Iran.
