Nicola   Sturgeon First Minister of Scotland and Leader of the Scottish National Party said that the government of the   United Kingdom may be not able to prevent a referendum of independence of Scotland to walk out of the UK.

Sturgeon added that if she is re-elected to the Scottish Premiership she will support the independence of her country.

She affirmed she is keen to conduct a second referendum on staying in the UK along with Wales and North Ireland after the UK left the European Union.

Sturgeon interviewed today, Monday, a host of reporters of the Guardian", a UK daily newspaper, and told reporters that if the Scottish electorate vote to a party supports independence no one can prevent that.

She added that the Scottish voters will defy the government of the UK.

It is worth noting that Scotland and North Ireland voted to stay in the EU but the population of Britain and Wales voted in January 2020 to walk out of the bloc and leave the common market in January this year.

The referendum of 2014 led Scotland to stay in the UK as 55% of the voters supported the option of unity with Britain and Wales.

On the other hand, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged the Scottish nationalists to stop talking about another referendum of independence.

Johnson said during his visit paid to Scotland weeks ago that talking about independence is not the right thing while the country and its population want to fight this trend which he depicted as a pandemic.

But Nicola Sturgeon has asked for months for another referendum.

However, polls conducted in Scotland reveal that the separatists will win over the new referendum which may be conducted after the termination of the Coronavirus ( known also as COVID-19) pandemic if local election next may result in a majority of supporters of independence.

Polls indicate the  Scottish National Party led by Nicola Sturgeon will achieve a  landslide victory over the next elections.
