The General Authority of Culture, affiliated to Libya's Government of National Accord (GNA) slammed Syrian artist Asala Nasri for linking between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Libyan late leader Omar al-Mokhtar.

The Culture Authority, headed by Hassan Onis, released a statement late Sunday condemning Nasri's act of linking between photos of Sisi and Mokhtar.

"We condemn the link that Asala made between the image of Sheikh Omar al-Mokhtar and Sisi, on her account on social media," the statement read.

The statement added that "What she (Nasri) did is an insult to all Libyans and the honorable Arab nation."

The General Authority of Culture announced that it would not tolerate what the Syrian artist did.

Moreover, the statement vowed to sue Nasri, stressing that the GNA will "file a formal complaint against her in the local and international courts, and the Artists Syndicate," while her statement comes after a report broadcast on Doha-based Al-Jazeera Channel about the song in which the Qatari channel claimed that the work angered Arab followers.

Onis was referring to the song (Love and Peace) that Nasri produced this week, in which she calls for hope, optimism and positivity.

In the song, she presented influential and significant Arab symbols that influenced human life and became symbols such as Mahatma Gandhi, Bill Gates, writer Naguib Mahfouz, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the United Arab Emirates and King Abdulaziz Al Saud, founder of modern Saudi Arabia.

While she was talking about the struggle, Nasri photos of Sisi and Mokhtar appeared behind her, knowing that many of the pictures in the song appeared consecutively in the same way.
