Herning, Jan.28 (SEE) – Denmark defeated
Norway 31-22 at the 2019 IHF World Men Handball Championship’s final. The match
took place on Sunday at the Jyske Bank Boxen, Herning, Denmark.
On the same day, France competed
with Germany for the bronze medal. The third-place match ended 26-25. Thanks to
this narrow lead over Germany, France secured the tournament’s third place.
After beating Croatia 34-28 in
the fifth-place game, Sweden finished fifth.
Worth noting is that it’s the first
time for Denmark to win this prestigious championship. In 1967, 2011, and 2013,
it was the runner-up. In 2007 it was the bronze medalist.
At the tournament’s first edition
in 1938, Denmark finished fourth. It was also ranked fourth in 1958, 1970,
1978, 1982, and in 2009.
