SCA demands $900 million compensation from company owning Ever Givent

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) demanded the company owning the giant vessel Ever Givent hat blocked the course of the canal last month, to pay $ 900 million compensation, and submitted a request to the Ismailia Economic Court to seize the vessel until the compensation is paid.

The court has already ordered that the vessel be placed under "precautionary seizure, and it will also prohibit the exit of the vessel from the Bitter Lakes region, where it anchored after being floated.

Earlier, official sources revealed that the Suez Canal Authority announced that the losses from Ever Given blockage are estimated at $1 billion.q

The sources indicated that Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, head of the Suez Canal Authority, addressed the company owning the ship, with the estimated value of the losses, in an official letter.

The sources also noted that discussions are continuing between the two sides, to reach a satisfactory solution, and confirmed that in case of a dispute erupted over the estimated value, the Panamanian ship and its cargo, which is estimated at 3 billion dollars, will be seized.
