Salah's Strike Among Nominees For Northwest Awards

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah's stunning goal in last season Premier League encounter against Chelsea has been selected among Nominees for Goal of the Season at the Northwest Football Awards.

Salah's goal guided the Reds to seal the 2-0 victory over the Blues in April during the 34th round of the Premier League.

Salah scored 32 Premier League goals last season, making it to the finals. He was selected as the PFA Player of the Year ahead of Manchester City title-winner Kevin De Bruyne.

The Egyptian international could miss his team’s match against Belgian club KRC Genk  in the UEFA Champions League at Anfield scheduled to take place Tuesday.

Salah suffered an injury to the ankle following a tackle from Leicester City player Hamza Choudrey almost a month ago, and is still suffering issues from that setback.

“Mohamed Salah continues to be hampered by the ankle blow he suffered when fouled by Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury,” Liverpool Echo newspaper reported on Monday.

“He lasted an hour at Villa, and it would be no surprise for him to be benched on Tuesday,” the report said.
