Salah Misses Private Jet to Hurghada Ahead of CAF Awards - Reports

Some reports said Tuesday that Liverpool star Mohamed Salah missed private jet, which took off from England, heading to Hurghada, Egypt, where CAF Awards 2019 are set to take place.

The Egyptian media reported earlier that Salah would not attend the 2019 African Player of the Year award ceremony.

Senegal's captain Sadio Mane, Liverpool's star Mohamed Salah and Algeria's Captain and Man City Riyad Mahrez were nominated for the 2019 awards, which will be held on Tuesday, 7 January 2020.

A source in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said the jet, which was allocated to carry the three international players, took off from England without Salah.

Meanwhile, other reports said CAF received an official apology from Riyad Mahrez for not attending the ceremony due to his commitment with his Premier League club Manchester City.

The 28th edition of CAF annual football awards is set to be held on Tuesday, 7 January 2020, at Citadel Azure, Hurghada, Egypt.

Noteworthy, Salah won the African Player of the Year award in the last season for the second successive year.

The three international three players were nominated for this prestigious award due to their sparkling performance with clubs.

The 27-year-old Egyptian star won the Premier League top scorer award in 2019, as well as the Uefa Champions League, Uefa Super Cup and recently the Fifa Club World Cup titles with Liverpool.
