Salah, 4 Professionals in Egypt's Squad for CAN 2022

Egypt's national team head coach Hossam El-Badry has announced that five professional players, including Liverpool player Mohamed Salah, will be summoned to the Pharaohs squad within the preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers scheduled next November.

The Pharaohs are preparing to face Togo on November 14 and 17 (1st & 2nd legs) in the third and fourth rounds of qualifying matches for the African Nations Cup, which has been postponed until 2022 in Cameroon.

The call-up list included five players, of which 4 are from the English Premier League: Salah (Liverpool), Mohamed El Nenni (Arsenal), Ahmed Hegazy (West Bromwich), Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” (Aston Villa), along with Ahmed Hassan “koka” from the Greek club Olympiacos FC.

The national team director, Mohamed Barakat, confirmed that the players' clubs were informed of the official summons according to the timelines set by the (FIFA), provided that they join the closed camp as of the beginning of the international period specified between the 9th and the 17th of November.

Barakat pointed that the coaching staff has settled on a large group of players after following up on all matches, and it is awaited that their official participation with their clubs in the remaining competitions of this season end.

The national team director confirmed that there is a group of Olympic team players that will be among the options of the first team's technical staff.

Most prominent players would be Mustafa Mohamed, Ahmed Abul Fotouh, Taher Mohamed Taher, Akram Tawfiq and Ramadan Sobhi, said Barakat, explaining that these are highly recommended to be on the list of the next camp, and they will be notified and summoned officially after the end of all local and African matches.
