Safwat El Sherief, one of former President Hosny Mubarak's regime's main figures, passed away on early Thursday after a long-term illness. El Sherief passed away at the age of 87.
The departed was diagnosed with cancer six years ago so his health passed through various critical phases. Moreover, last week, it was rumored that El Sherief contracted COVID-19 according to TV presenter/journalist Mohamed El Baz which was later refuted.
El Sherief held various positions during the reign of former Egyptian President Mohamed Hosny Mobarak. He faced various trials after the 25th Jan. Revolution over corruption.
