S. Sudan President Receives Sudanese Delegation over Differences with Ethiopia

On Thursday, President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, held talks with the member of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Lt. Gen. Shams-Eddin Kabbashi at the presidential palace in Juba.

The meeting was attended by Sudanese Foreign Minister, Omar Gamar-Eddin and Advisor of President Salva Kiir for Security Affairs, Tott Gulwak.

In a press statement, the acting Foreign Minister, Omar Gamar-Eddin , said that the president, during the meeting, discussed situation in East Sudan amid differences with Ethiopia over border areas.

He added that demarcation of borders between Sudan and Ethiopia represents a drastic solution to all problems between the two countries.

The Foreign Minister pointed out that the meeting touched on the peace agreement  signed in Juba, expressing the Sudanese government's appreciation to the South Sudan State for its  efforts in pushing negotiations that ended by reaching comprehensive peace.

In his 2021 New Year’s message, President  Kiir called on the people of South Sudan to reconcile and work for peace, saying the transitional government is committed to peacefully resolving conflicts across the country.
