S. Korea Rises National Level of Corona Risk from 'High' to 'Very High'

South Korea health authorities said they raised the risk level of the nationwide spread of Corona last week to 'very high', the highest level of the five-level assessment system.     

The risk level of Corona spread at the national level was 'high' for the sixth week in a row from the 3rd week of January to the 4th week of February, but the health authorities raised it by one degree to "very week"

The heath authorities relied on the evaluation system consisting of 5 level, which are "very low", "low", "moderate", "high", "very high", to assess the level of risk of the spread of Corona on weekly basis by evaluating 17 indicators such as occupancy rate of a family Intensive care in hospitals, the number of serious cases per week, and the infected people who are over 60 years old.

The proportion of Omicron cases in the country rose to 100% on March 5, an increase of 0.4% from a week ago, while the proportion of infections imported from abroad reached 99.2%.

The proportion of cases of infection with the new strain "BA.2" from Omicron accounted for 22.9% of the local infections, and 47.3% of the infections imported from abroad.
