A spokesman for the Russian National Guard announced to the "Sputnik" agency, today, Wednesday, that the situation at the Zaporizhia nuclear plant in Ukraine is under control.

He noted that the employees working at the station continue to work as usual.

The spokesman said: “While we were patrolling the Zaporizhia nuclear plant on March 4, unknown persons attacked us from the side of the training complex building, and during the engagement, the situation was brought under control.

Last Sunday, the Ukrainian authorities informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)  that the management of the Kyiv plant is currently subject to the directives of the Russian Armed Forces.

In a related context, a Russian source familiar with the nuclear industry told "Sputnik", a Russian news agency,  that the recent clashes in the administrative buildings near the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant may be a result of Ukraine storing documents about its work on developing nuclear weapons there.
