Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that preparations for the Russia-China summit to be held in Beijing on February 4,  the opening day of the Winter Olympics, are proceeding at full speed.

At a press conference on the results of Russian diplomatic activities in 2021, as reported by the Russian (TASS) news agency, the Russian minister added, "We are preparing for an official Russian-Chinese summit.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, will visit Beijing on 4 February, the opening day of the Winter Olympics, and he will have “full talks at the highest level on the same day."

Lavrov noted that as always when the two leaders interact, the talks "will cover the full range of relations characterized by an intense bilateral agenda and a unique structure of bilateral relations that Russia practically does not have with anyone else."

It is noteworthy that the White House said that it expects Russia to invade Ukraine soon.

And earlier, Washington said that Russia would invade Ukraine and commit war crimes if diplomacy failed.

Washington revealed that the concerned US intelligence agencies detected hostile movements by Russia on its borders with Ukraine.”

The United States of America (USA) renewed its commitment to provide defense assistance to the Ukrainian army in the framework of what it described as “its unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”

This came according to what was published by the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) in a statement on its website during a phone call between US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin III with his Ukrainian counterpart, Oleksiy Reznikov, to discuss the ongoing and unjustified Russian military build-up in and around Ukraine.

The defense ministers of the USA and Ukraine expressed their support for diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and their commitment to continue close coordination.
