The Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture stated on Thursday that the Russian market is the largest recipient of Egyptian exports of potatoes during the current export season with about 119.28 thousand tons.

The ministry said that the country's total exports of potatoes since the start of the current export season 2020/21 reached so far 386.57 thousand tons.

It added that the total exports of potatoes to the European Union countries amounted to 144.62 thousand tons, the Arab countries to about 114.9 thousand tons, and some other foreign countries to about 7672 tons.

The export season for Egyptian agricultural crops begins in September and continues until the end of August every year.

Egypt's major agricultural exports to the world are potatoes, cotton, and fresh fruit, primarily citrus. Most of Egypt's exports are destined for the EU, Russia, North Africa, and Asia.
