Former world boxing champion, Ruslan Provodnikov launched a charitable campaign to collect donations to treat a seriously ill child at a cost of 180 million rubles, about (2 million and 433 thousand dollars).

Provodnikov, a deputy in the State Duma of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Region, has pledged to run 100 kilometers in run to raise funds for the treatment of the two-year-old child, Konstantin Gibalov, who suffers from a serious illness, a type 1 muscular dystrophy (SMA1).

The former world boxing champion, on Saturday, has already traveled 30 km in the bitter cold, with temperatures reaching minus 30 degrees Celsius.

According to Provodnikov, the TASS news agency reported that the child needs one "Zolgensma" injection, at a cost of 180 million rubles, and about 160 million rubles must be collected within two months.

Provodnikov wrote a "blog post" on his Instagram account: "Today I stopped at 30 kilometers. It was very difficult to run in frost at minus 30 degrees Celsius, and it felt like 35 below zero. Even though I dressed appropriately." I did what I did. I hope the child helps what I did."

The boxer indicated that he wanted to skip at least 50 km: “But on the way, I felt that continuing to run would harm my health, so I decided to stop at 30 km. In 2020, I ran 51 km, but by then it was much warmer - 12 degrees below zero. It was comfortable. "
