Juventus football star Cristiano Ronaldo has undergone a second medical swab which came out positive, indicating that he is still infected with Coronavirus, according to Italian press reports Thursday.

This medical swab was performed less than a week before his team's encounter against FC Barcelona in the Champions League next Wednesday.

Sky Sports and La Gazeta dello Sport newspaper have reported that the result of the second swab conducted by the 35-year-old player on Wednesday was positive again.

Ronaldo contracted COVID-19 while on national duty with his team Portugal on October 13, as part of the European Nations League competitions, which forced him to return to his residence in Turin, Italy, where he is spending the quarantine period.

Under UEFA rules, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner needs to pass a negative test 24 hours before the match against Barcelona to be part of the squad that will play the match.

The entire Juventus team is under quarantine after their new American player, Weston McKennie, tested positive for the Coronavirus.
