It's been a difficult 24 hours for Real Madrid, as they have missed out on signing Kylian Mbappe after coming incredibly close to signing the Paris-Saint Germain star.

Mbappe has been Real Madrid's main transfer target for a number of years, with everything being built with the 23-year-old's arrival in mind.

In fact, after PSG refused to negotiate his exit last summer, Real Madrid turned their towards another Frenchman and secured a deal to sign Eduardo Camavinga in the last few days of the transfer window.

Throughout the summer of 2021, rumours about the possible interest of one or another player were stopped in their tracks in order not to jeopardise Mbappe's desire to play for Real Madrid.

They did not want any situations that would cause jealousy and, as such, they were looking for the ideal scenario in order to facilitate Mbappe's arrival.
