Rania Youssef to Appear before Court on Feb. 21

On Thursday, Qasr Al Nil Misdemeanor Court set actress Rania Youssef's trial to  February 21 after accusing her of defamation of religion, posting fake news, and improper acts.

Therefore, Egyptian lawyer Ashraf Nagi filed a report against Youssef after her latest TV interview with Iraqi TV presenter Nizar El Faris which she mentioned her body and used a verse from the Holy Quran.

Last month, Head of the Actors’ Syndicate, actor Ashraf Zaki addressed the actress's controversial statements to the Iraq-based TV channel “Al-Rasheed”.

In a phone interview with the “Honorable Citizen” program, broadcast on “Al-Hadath”, Zaki stated that the Syndicate board will meet on Sunday to discuss the situation and weigh what Youssef said as well as the position of the Syndicate.

The actress posted a promo for her latest interview with an Iraqi satellite channel, which featured her talking about her body.

“There will be a response from the syndicate,” Zaki noted.

He stressed that the Syndicate respects everyone and responds to any complaints raised by anyone. Zaki explained that he does not have an account on Facebook and that the news is delivered late to him.
