The tripartite summit between Egypt, Jordan and Iraq aims at fostering cooperation, construction and development relations, said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady on Sunday.

In a telephone interview with the "Min Masr" TV show broadcast on CBC satellite channel, Rady noted that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to Iraq is a "historic visit and the first of its kind in 30 years."

He added that Sisi was greatly welcomed in Baghdad, pointing to the existence of cooperation among the three countries, since 2019 at the time of the Cairo Summit, followed by another summit in New York, and then in Jordan.

Rady manifested that during these summits there were working sessions and visits among Egypt, Jordan and Iraq at the highest level, through the foreign ministers and the Prime Ministers.

"President Sisi is keen on fulfilling various projects among the three countries, especially in the energy sector, where there is an electricity link project between Egypt and Jordan and then extends to Iraq," he noted.

Rady pointed that "the industrial sector and centers in the three countries attract the attention of Sisi as well, in addition to the project that aims to extend the serum tube from Iraq, then to Jordan, and then to Egypt."
