Egyptian debutants Pyramids moved a step closer to the Confederation Cup (CC) semi-finals after thrashing Zambian Zanaco with three unanswered goals at Lusaka stadium on Sunday.

The Egyptian club started the game so fiercely as early as after only seventeen minutes when Abdallah Said swung a well-played cross into Zanaco's penalty area, where defender Ali Gaber met with a powerful header.

Six minutes later, Mohamed Farouk doubled his side's lead after a great play down the left from Abdallah Said, who scorched away from the Zambian club's defenders whipping a shot, which was saved by the keeper, before Farouk hit the empty net with rebound.

Abdallah Said crowned his illustrious performance during the game after he netted the third goal for the Egyptian club when he converted from the penalty spot to send the keeper the wrong way.

The second leg will be held on next Sunday in Cairo, Egypt.
