The European Union might impose sanctions on Russian President Vladimir Putin's daughters, diplomats familiar with the plan announced on Tuesday.
The step will add Putin's closest family members to a growing list of inpiduals sanctioned to pressure Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine.
In like manner, the Biden administration is also expected to announce sanctions on Putin's two daughters this week, US officials affirmed.
Social media users called Putin’s daughters, Maria Vorontsova and Katerina Tikhonova, “war criminals” amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
Katerina Tikhonova, aka Yekaterina Vladimirovna Putina, is the second daughter of Putin. Katerina is a scientist, manager, and former acrobatic dancer.
On the other hand, Putin's eldest daughter, Maria Vorontsova, is a leading researcher at the National Medical Research Center for Endocrinology of the Ministry of Health of Russia and an expert in rare genetic diseases in children.
The two sisters maintained silent on their father’s decision to conduct a special military operation in Ukraine last month which led many to assume that they were in favour of his order.
