Putin Signs Decree Allowing Veterans to Take Part in Operations in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a federal decree allowing veterans to participate in the special military operation in Ukraine and Donbas, Russian media reported on Saturday.

The decree established the status of veterans, as well as persons disabled as a result of combat operations, of military personnel, as well as employees of security agencies and other various power institutions, who perform tasks on the territory of Ukraine and the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.

Implementation of the decree will require additional funding from the federal budget, which, according to preliminary estimates of the Ministry of Defense, is about five billion rubles in 2022.

As indicated by the State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, the decree grants participants in the military operation facilities in the areas of taxation, transportation, land, housing, and others.
