Professor Dr.Hind Ali Ahmed El-Sherbini, general director of scientific research at the archaeological site of Abu Rawash has got a PhD with first class honors on her dissertation entitled “The change of royal monuments’ identity in the second half of the 18th Dynasty”

The thesis was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Waheed Mohamed Shoaib, Professor of History at Damietta University and Prof. Dr. Ayman Wahbe Taher, Professor of Egyptian Archaeology at Mansura University.

In her research paper, Dr. El Sherbini concluded that King Akhenaten had begun a campaign to destroy the monuments of other gods, especially those of the god Amun.

Hence, the successors of King Akhenaten; Smenkhkare, Tutankhamun and Ay kings suffered the same fate and their monuments were destroyed by King Horemheb.

Yet, King Horemheb did not suffer the same destiny because the Ramesside kings regarded him as their god father and attributed to him the credit of restoring Egypt’s glory after the end of the Amarna period of King Akhenaten and his successors.

Noteworthy, El Sherbeni also received a master's degree in science from the University of Arizona, USA on her thesis about the application of Dendrochronology in ancient Egyptian antiquities.
