Following a sweeping scanadal at the British Royal family over Duke of York Prince Andrew and his alleged sexual relation to a minor almost 18 years ago, media reports revealed that Duke of Edinburgh has ordered Andrew to step down for the sake of monarchy.

British 'Mirror'  reported that Prince Philip is said to have told his disgraced son to stop royal duties following the backlash over his connection with the now dead billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

In specific, Daily Telegraph quoted royal insiders that "It was a tense meeting and Philip told his son that he had to take his punishment."

A showdown between the two allegedly took place at Sandringham hours before a BBC shocking interview with Virginia Roberts Guiffre was screened on Monday. Roberts accused the duke of York to have had a relation with her in 2001 when she was 17 years old and was then one of the girls of Epstein. In the hour-long documentary, she described feeling "horrified and abused" during the "disgusting" incident.

On his part, Andrew has denied Mrs Guiffre's claims in several statements from Buckingham Palace and in a catastrophic BBC Newsnight interview last month.

According to 'Mirror', the humiliated prince was also reportedly read the "riot act" from Prince Charles, who is said to have driven 140 miles to tell him "there was no way back for him". The prince, 59, was summoned to the Queen's Sandringham estate in Norfolk to face "strong words" from Prince Charles on Monday.

A source told the newspaper: "It was all very civilized but Charles calmly read him the riot act and told him there was no way back for him in the near future.

"Andrew thought he was being treated harshly as nothing has yet been proved... but he accepted the decision. He really had little choice."
