Prince Philip leaves hospital, returns to Windsor Castle

Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, has left King George VII Hospital and returned back to the Windsor Castle on Tuesday, after a long month of treatment.

The 99 year old prince has spotted while leaving the hospital on a wheelchair, and he waved to the audience present in the scene.

Buckingham Palace said in an official statement: “following treatment for an infection and a successful procedure for a pre-existing condition".

"His Royal Highness wishes to thank all the medical staff who looked after him... and everyone who has sent their good wishes," the statement added.

This hospital stay is considered the longest to the Duke of Edinburgh as it lasted for a month.

Philip, Queen Elizabeth II’s husband, will reunite with the queen after at the Windsor Castle where the couple is quarantined with a limited staff workers.

Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales and the heir of the monarchy, reacted to the news, expressing his sincere happiness that his father is finally home.

Charles was the only one who was allowed to visit the sick prince during his stay at the hospital.
